EP 23: Comparison, Competition, & the Truth About “Getting Lucky”

In this solo episode of the Nomad CEO Podcast, I’m recording from Chiajna, Romania — in an Airbnb that definitely did not match the photos — talking about something that’s very real for me right now: luck.

After a decade of sacrifice, crying nights, risk, & relentless work to build a business that allows me to travel full-time, I often hear, “You’re so lucky,” or “It must be nice.” & if I’m honest? It’s triggered defensiveness in me.

In this episode, I unpack what’s underneath that reaction — & what I’m learning about curiosity, comparison, & creation.

In This Episode, I Share:

  • The 10-year journey behind the “overnight success.”

  • Why being called lucky can feel disconnected

  • How curiosity dissolves comparison & judgment

  • The affirmation that shifted me:
I refuse to compare. I simply encourage.
I refuse to compete. I simply create.

  • The difference between competing for worth vs. creating from alignment

  • The 4-part intersection of meaningful work:
what you love, what you’re gifted in, what the world needs, & what people will pay for

My reminder to you:
When you focus inward & create from alignment, you stop chasing the spotlight — & you become the lighthouse.
